What to do if we run into ex-AP again?
So my husband has NEVER admitted the affair, and never will, but I had a LOT of circumstantial evidence. Long story but after he gaslighted me about his whereabouts on a weekend morning he claimed to be at the office, I nearly divorced him. If I had definitive (emails, texts, photos) proof, I would have left then. My therapist pushed me to marriage counseling, and after a lot of counseling, and much pleading on his part, we are still together. I believe the affair ended more than a year ago. They worked together but no longer do.
Recently, we were out to dinner and ran into her. She was having dinner with a woman. I spotted her when we walked in, was horrified, hoped she’d ignore us, but she leapt out of her seat, literally LEAPT, came at my husband, was all chummy, excited!!!! “how are you, how is the new job, etc.” He was cold as ice to her. Then she HUGGED me, tried to make conversation. (even though I’ve literally never had a conversation with this woman — only hellos at holiday parties, when I was with my husband) I was so stunned and disgusted, I just stood there, staring at her, not one word. My husband and I then sat down at our table, he immediately asked if I wanted to leave. After I gathered myself, we left, in less than five minutes or so. Walked right past her.
It felt like some ugly act of dominance on her part, hugging me, all that. It really did. I was so in shock, and also, I can’t stand this woman. It’s hard for me to even imagine my husband having an affair with her, given what I’ve been told of her (unethical) work behavior and also, her physical appearance. Not to be mean but honestly, makes me ill. Anyway, it was all so messed up. Why would she behave that way? And how should I respond if we run into her again? We don’t live in a big city, so we could. I’m worried we will. (karma and all that) I don’t want to act like she “matters” but I don’t want to be accosted like that ever again, either.
Thanks in advance for any insight/advice.
