My Personal Goal: A Complete 151 Binder

Hello friends. I'm new here and to the hobby, and I probably won't be as in-depth as most of you fine people. Recently I fell into this rabbit hole because I wanted to see what the fuss was about, and I thought whatever cards I didn't like I'd give to kids who are dragged into my workplace office by their parents. But I come to find what really entices me is the Scarlet & Violet 151 set, mostly due to the cool art and remembering the generation I grew up with. So to get this addiction out of my system, I'm going for a full set.

My question is am I taking the fun out of it by going to card shops to buy singles, or is that the natural collector's option? I've had some good hits in packs with Illustration Rare Psyduck and Secret Rare Psychic Energy, but beyond that my most notable hits were UR Venusaur and Mew EX. Any tips in achieving my goal?
