MY Top Five Episode List
As promised, I’ve formed my own list of top five favorite episodes. It goes without saying that it took quite a bit of time to knock out the competition since there were about a handful of contenders. They’d probably still make the top ten or something but this is obviously only going to be five. My only criteria is that I had to rank them based on the EPISODE not just because I like one scene that stands out. Here they are.
-
Spookyfish (S2 E15) •Although I prefer the B plot with the two Cartmans more, I still enjoy seeing how Sharon reacts when she sees more and more people that Stan allegedly killed. I like the implication that she thinks of Stan that way and needs to actually see the evil pets killing in order to believe it. The highlight for me was Kyle and Stan not knowing which was the real Cartman because they wanted to save the nice one. It reminds me of Toy Story 2.
-
Butters’ Bottom Bitch (S13 E9) •This won against another contender but I probably would’ve been happy either way. In my opinion, this is Butters at his funniest. It best shows off his personality with the contradiction of becoming a pimp yet using stickers to praise or reprimand his bitches. I love the classroom scene when he’s trying to get Wendy to join his company and pays Clyde to punch Stan. And I find it funny how Detective Harrison increasingly went even further to bust the pimps. Do you know what I am saying?
-
Korn’s Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery (S3 10) •Apart from including a scene that I love (cemetery scene), I love the idea of having Korn’s storyline told through a parody of Scooby Doo. It has several golden moments that include: Cartman’s immediate response of using Cleo as a puppet which they do end up doing, Korn turning into different forms of corn which doesn’t do shit to help, and Cartman’s obsession with the Antonio Banderas blow up doll down to chasing Niblet for popping it.
-
The Ring (S13 E1) •Even though this gets brownie points for being Kenny based, I actually listed this because of the Jonas Brothers storyline. First of all, the parodies of their songs make me laugh a lot especially the “Burnin’ Up” one. And second, this introduces Mickey Mouse to the SP universe which we of course get to see more of. Their representation of him is hilarious to me especially in this episode.
-
Chickenlover (S2 E4) •I’ve already said this here and there, so it shouldn’t really come as a surprise. I still have a lot to say about it. Much like with Butters, this is a strong Officer Barbrady episode. Also, of course, this is the episode where Cartman says the iconic line “Respect my authoritah”. All of that aside, it’s filled with one quality joke after another 🫰 Stan having to stop himself three times because Kenny lived then missing Kenny’s actual death, Officer Barbrady’s hilarious song while on the swings, the guy popping the ball that Kyle was holding for dramatic effect, the parody of “Cops” as a whole, and so on. It tickled me when Barbrady said “Just give us the damn book, fruitcake”. He also picked a book about a dog which says a lot about him.
Now, the only one that I was pretty certain about was “Chickenlover”. I only stopped to question myself because it’s a bold statement to claim something as your top favorite. Once I watched it a second time, it only confirmed my original opinion. This was fun because it gave me the chance to revisit some episodes that I was considering. I also noticed an unintentional theme that most of these are season 2 and season 13.
