So understaffed I feel like I’m going to lose it (trenta rant)

IM LOSING IT. Our location is the only corporate starbucks within 40 minutes in any direction, we make about 8k on busy days, 6k on slow ones, and we have 10 PEOPLE. 6 baristas, 2 shifts, our ASM, and our SM. I literally cannot do it. But I can’t quit because I need the pay and nowhere else near me is offering anything similar. I was hired under the impression that I would be able to work 26ish hours a week, made it clear the maximum I wanted was 30, and for months now I’m consistently scheduled 5-6 days every single week for full 8+ hour shifts. I’ve talked to my supervisors about it but there’s honestly nothing they can do because we are so understaffed.

For peak on our busiest days we have 5 people, but we have to run breaks during peak because of the scheduling so it’s usually only 4 on the floor, sometimes 3 because SSVs will step off to do the pull or other stuff. We are a drive thru location with quite a long drive thru as well, and we often have 12+ cars lined up from the window all the way back to the box and beyond. All of the customers are so rude to us, our store’s reviews are flooded with people complaining about wait times.

For closing shifts we get 3 people, which I’m aware is not abnormal, but these shifts start at 11-12 and go on until 8pm, but sometimes we get out later. The morning baristas will leave around 2, sometimes 3 at the latest, and then we get slammed with the after school rush (usually barely under the amount of customers we get for peak), with only 3 people on the floor. My SM and ASM are pulling 50+ hour weeks every single week and both of them live over a 40 minute drive away in a different city simply because they are the only people we could get to run our store. Over half of the people we have employed live over 30 minutes away.

On top of all of this district is down our throats about times and cup writing and cleaning and every other little thing because of course they are and it leads to our SM being constantly stressed and in a terrible mindset. We also have a huge callout issue at our store but we can’t afford to fire anyone so we just have to live with it. Tomorrow I have to work a 1pm-10pm clean play with only one other person because our 3rd called out.

One of our baristas is literally at their breaking point and it honestly seems like they’re on the verge of leaving. We’ve been told multiple times that if we lose 2 more people we are done and they are shutting our store down completely because of the lack of staffing. There’s nothing anyone can do, my ASM and SM along with DM and RM just held a huge hiring fair event for us after advertising for weeks and putting flyers up all over our city. 3 people showed up and none of them were even close to passable to be hired but at this point they’re offering jobs to anyone, yet whenever anyone gets past the interview stage they end up never replying or going through with it!!!!

That’s all. Idk. I wish I could quit but I need the money and I care about all of my coworkers so much. Everything sucks. Idk what to do. :(
