With Console servers dead or dying, will they ever merge with cross play or just kill it?

I'm finally at the endgame on Console server and I spent a lot of time working on crafting. Is there any shot in hell this server has a chance to be merged or will they just kill it off?

There is no one around, nothing to do group related, and PvP is dead. I don't know if I should just bite the bullet and start cross play or take my copeium get me through another week of console survival.
