AIO my bf cut our date short and dropped me off early cause he needed alone time

❤️‍🩹 relationship

First a bit of context, my (27f) bf (32m) and I have been together for a little over 9 months, at first we'd go out maybe once or twice a week and thenbit started getting more frequent to the point where we see each other for a few hours almost everyday now. This is possible because we live in the same neighborhood, a couple blocks away from each other (he lives with his parents and I live with mine, no it's not weird in our culture) he works from home (freelance) and my afternoon job is on the same block as his house.

For a while he had been searching for a steady job and has now landed a good position in a local company that will requiere him to get in the office in regular shifts (morning, afternoon and even overnight) and truly I could not be happier for him, I know he had been feeling down about not having a steady job and this will realy boost his confindence, his position is secured and all he's doing now is wait to get the final call telling him what day of the month he's starting.

Now to today's events, since it's a long weekend where we live we've spent the evenings together and yesterday (Saturday) I asked him what he wanted to do today, I had suggested a earlier going to an event in the park where there would be a group singing broadway songs, music, dancing, etc. and last night he said we should go. So plans were made, we agreed to meet an hour before the show started to get there early and grab a good spot. He was a little late to pick me up and I did mention it to him but I let it slide and when we got to the park there was a bit of a crowd and it was starting to rain a little. No problem, he got an umbrella from the car and we walked around for a bit and I thanked him for taking there because even though he enjoys music (is a musician himself) broadway is kinda more my thing (I'm a dancer). It took a while for them to start and by that time there was a big crowd and rain was getting heavier, I could tell he wasn't really enjoying it and at that point neither was I to be honest. I asked him if he felt to crowded to which he said he did and asked if he wanted to leave and he said yes. I was a bit disappointed but not in his decision to leave, more in the fact that I wished the event had been more enjoyable.

We got in the car and he was silent for a bit then asked if I would be upset if he dropped me off at home to which I replied that yes, I would be, very much. He seemed surprised and asked why and I in turn asked him why he would drop me off so soon (it had been maybe and hour and 15 mins since he picked me up) and he said he wanted to be alone.

Honestly I felt really hurt, this isn't the first time he needed alone time but every time it's happened he's said it after hours of not replying to my texts to the point where I get worried and call him just for him to not answer and later text me he's feeling upset or needs alone time and everytime I tell him it's ok just let me know in a timely manner so as not to worry, and also so I can make other plans to take advantage of my spare time. I had bought a new shirt for today and got my hair done and got all dolled up excited about going out and him suddenly needing to be alone while he was with me felt a lot he didn't need to be away from everyone just away from me in that moment. And I told him so, not to pick a fight o br dramatic just to remind him that he can tell me if he needs alone time.

I asked him "you didn't even want to come out to the event did you?" he said no, and he didn't realize what it was about but that he had wanted to make an effort for me,I told him I noticed and appreciated the effort but would've prefered it if he had told me before hand that he didn't wanna do anything today so it wouldn't feel like he was cutting our date short because he'd had enough of me. I made it clear to him that I understand this wasn't him rejecting me, but that it still felt like rejection to me the way things played out and I wished he had been more forecoming about how he was feeling, he accepted that he could've handled things differently but basically said that was that and he needed time to focus as he could be called in to work early tomorrow.

I guessed this triggered me a little as I have been feeling some anxiousness and insecurity in regards to his new job. I felt like I wanted to cry because I know all the time we have been spending together is thanks to him not having a 9to5 job and I'm scared that now he has it we will barely see each other, as my job is also very time demanding. I had told him before the long weekend I wished we would make the most of our last spare time since he's starting work soon and his schedule will be hectic, and also on top of his time spent AT work he'll need extra time to rest FROM work, but I hadn't really said anything before in regards to my feelings because I didn't want him to feel like I don't support him or that I'd rather he be without a job, but I felt like if I didn't say anything now I'd never get the chance, so I told him.

I started by reminding him how happy I am that he's getting to work and specified that I'm happy because I know it will make him happy and make him feel better about himself (he had jokingly mentioned a couple times that he'd have money to take out to dinner now so I said it to make it clear it not the financial aspect that matters to me) but layed bare my feelings, said I was scared we'd grow apart because he's gonna have to focus on his job and also getting some rest afterwards and with a changing schedule it will be much harder for us to see each other as often, said I understand we WON'T be able to see each other as often but I'm scared he won't think to make time for me, said that this are my feelings and that this isn't a He thing but a Me thing and felt the need to communicate it so he would understand my pov a bit better. I asked him to promise me that as he gets his schedule at work he'll let me know so we can make plans with our matching spare time and he said he would and he would make time for me.

Whenever I voice my feelings like this to him he responds quite well and he did so again today, however he did mention a couple times during our conversation that this wasn't that big of a deal (him needing alone time or dropping me off early or both) and though I agreed I mentioned it wasn't the act itself but the fact that he didn't seem to take my feelings into consideration (and that had been something I had asked of him before).

It's been a little while since he dropped me off at home and although I'm feeling more calm (writing this to vebt helped) and recognise most of the issue is my anxiety acting up I do want an unbiased opinion.

I don't want him to feel like I'm being "too much" but at the same time I'd like him to say when I AM being "too much" so I can try to keep my behaviour in check.

I love him and I really want things to work out with him long term, so I guess I also need some advice on how to handle and communicate better in this tyoes of situations.

Am I Overeacting? I don't think so but I'm biased.

Do I have anxious attachment? Probably.

Should I get therapy instead of turning to strangers on the internet? Most definitely.
