Advice for India

Hi everyone!

My friend and I will be attended a wedding in Kerala in early January. After the wedding, we'll have time to explore Kerala on a houseboat. We're also planning to fly in 5 days early to explore a different part of India first. Our initial thought is to visit Delhi/Agra/Jaipur, but I've read that they can be busy and stressful areas.

We've never been to India before. My friend isn’t a seasoned traveler… I would have said I was a few years ago when I backpacked Southeast Asia but it’s been a long time since then, so not anymore. So I think that could factor into what we do. Also, we are two women. We are willing to spend some money on guides and nicer places to stay, etc to be safer.

I know this is SO broad, but does anyone have a favorite spot to visit? I'd love recommendations to guide our planning!
