Is it worth joining the Military for the pay & benefits?
Basically, to keep my story short, I was thinking of joining the military for its benefits & pay. I am currently living under either my mom or partner (I go back & forth) and there are times when things dont go well, I am made to feel unwelcome & even though I work, it is just not enough. I am tired of that feeling & want to be able to stand up on my own. I am 28 & I want to pursue a career in the Health field but I could not afford going back to school right now, even for simply earning a certificate nor can I afford living on my own. I have thought about every possible thing I can do to be able to do this faster than having to wait years just to save money just so I can go back to school and joining the Military is by far, the best option. I was thinking of joining either the Air Force or Army to become a trained medic to gain experience in that field and pursue a career from there once I get out. Currently, I work full time with minimum wage enough to cover basic needs, I’d need to gain more credits or certifications (that I could not afford just yet) to be able to land a better paying job. So, I am not going to sugarcoat it and will admit that I want to join for the training they can provide, the benefits & the pay I can receive, even if I will become a slave to the government. Is this a safe path to take? Any advice would be appreciated. Please be kind… it has been really tough lately and I am barely hanging in there. I know the risks… but This is my last resort.
Thanks and God bless.
