$30k saved, no debt, new to investing

24M Looking for ways go grow my money. I feel like I was scammed by my credit union recently, who advised me to put my entire roth ira savings ($11k) into a 2 year CD. Thoughts? Should I take the penalty and invest it elsewhere? How can I grow the rest of my cash? TIA
