Was I not suppose to ask him out twice??

I went a date with a man (32) and I’m 30. After our second date, I asked him if he wanted to hang out again and he said he was busy for the next 3 weekends. A week went by and he didn’t ask me out, so I asked him out the following week on Monday. We decided a day but he cancelled because he got too busy with work. The conversation started to slow down and then he didn’t respond for two days. So I asked if he was still interested and wanted to hang out on Tuesday of the next week. No answer for 5 days. I texted again with ‘thanks for ghosting me’ and he texted back 2 hrs later saying that I was ‘constantly’ asking him to hang out and because of that, we weren’t compatible. Did I ask him out too much? Wasn’t too needy?
