Advice for sump pump
Trying to decide on a game plan and would love some input. We just bought a house built in 2010; Previous owners installed a radon mitigation system in 2016 and sealed the sump pump well, but we can see in through a small drain port. The well is 18" in diameter, at least 24" deep. This is our first home where we've needed a sump pump, so our experience is lacking. No idea how old the sump pump is, but from the looks of it, it has seen better days. It is so worn / cruddy that I can't make out the brand info embossed on the top.
We're getting a lot of spring rain, and it's working pretty hard. Should we go ahead and be proactive with replacing it, before it craps the bed at an inopportune time? For peace of mind, I'm thinking about purchasing a Zoeller ProPack 98, so we have a battery backup pump. Or should we let things lie and not fix what technically isn't broken?
