Stop playing the Victim

Message Into the Void

I'm not even angry I'm just hurting..

Lost both of my parents recently. Mom just died two weeks ago. I'm showing signs of PTSD and really struggling. I was both parents caretaker until they passed away. I haven't left the house in days, barely eat or sleep. The nightmares are horrendous. I'm trying to take care of everything like the house, bills, etc. and getting a hard time when I ask for any help from the people that live here. I have 3 adults children. 1 son has barely been heard from in 2 weeks, the other is mad because I won't let him throw my dad's stuff out and take over his room, and my daughter is fine one day and screaming at me the next. They both are obsessing over getting my father's room that's packed with his belongings. I've calmly explained that I needed some time to personally go through his stuff and it's hard for me. Not good enough. I get the silent treatment after being yelled at. They are not offering any financial help towards the bills here or any help maintaining the home. Trash just sits there, dishes in the sink, grass hasn't been cut. I'll clean it and it will be a mess a day later. My daughter sent me 50 hurtful text messages yesterday. I had a few choice words to say, but I was not abusive in any way. On the other hand she reminded me of what a terrible person I am and how I just want her to be miserable like me. She is mad she can't move in my dad's room, can't take over his car, and is being asked to help. She proceeds to go to my cousin and tell her it's so awful here. My daughter is 28. My cousin tells her she should move out. I asked my cousin if she knew where my daughter could stay where she didn't have to pay bills, clean or have any responsibilities. That really made cuz mad. My cousin unloaded on me. She said she had done everything for me when my parents were dying and how unappreciative I am. She says I'm " playing the victim". I reminded her that my mom had just died in my arms 2 weeks ago. No I'm not a victim but I might have PTSD. She also said she neglected her own family helping me out. I paid her the 5 times she came over to sit with my parents so I could sleep. Some nights my cousin would lie to her bf and tell him she was at my house helping out and would be out partying and just didn't want to come home. She offered to help and I held out until the last couple weeks my parents passed. She sat with my dad a few times and mom once. These are her family members. I'm not sure why she felt the need to throw up in my face the times she helped them. They are dead. I guess I now owe her my life. So the whole part about how "I'm playing the victim" really bugs me. How do you say that to someone who lost their father in March and then lost their mom 2 weeks ago in April? I went through so much taking care of my mom and dad. The whole home hospice thing has scarred me for life. Giving out them morphine doses every couple hours and watching them both gasp for air. There wasn't nothing I could do either. I can't sleep. I'm having terrible nightmares. I'm sure I'm not the loveliest person to be around but I'm not really being rude or yelling at people. I'm staying to myself and processing my grief to the best of my ability. It seems like I can do nothing right in these people's eyes. I feel defeated. I'm trying to find a counselor. Until then I need to talk about this with someone. The pain is just too much.
