Active, Reserve, or Guard? Or even try at all?
Howdy all. Apologies if this is commonly asked on here. For context I’m a 22 year old CMEL civilian pilot. Currently working on my bachelors degree online while working part time. I’ve also been in the Army national guard for 5 years now (non aviation mos) and have about a year left in my contract. I wanna do my full 20+ years with the DoD if able to. Looking to do some flying since that’s all I’ve ever known since I was 13. I’ve had a good time in my military service so far but I’m dying to fly more. My buddies that currently fly AF and Navy really love it and have told me there’s some shortages so I might maybe have a shot. Would I even be a good candidate? If so would I have a better shot going guard/reserve or active? I’d love to fly anything fixed wing preferably if that helps at all. Any help or insight is great appreciated, thanks fellas!
