Waterloo Appreciation Post
Hey everyone,
Just wrapped up my first year in tron and I've been feeling kinda sentimental about it, so I thought I'd post something here.
Some of you might remember (or not lol) that I posted here during my first month saying I didn't feel like I belonged at UW. I was overwhelmed, imposter syndrome was hitting hard, and I really wasn't sure if I could keep up. But the responses I got on that post genuinely helped me push through. It made me feel like I wasn't alone, and that meant a lot, so thank you for all the responses.
Now, looking back after a year, I'm honestly so glad I stuck with it. Tron wasn't easy, there were late nights, tough projects, and times I wondered if I was cut out for it after final exams (thank goodness for curves). I'm no 90+ student or anything (I hover around a 75-80 avg), but I did my best and had fun along the way. I always say that as long as my avg is above a 75 I’m happy and I’ll always say yes to going out and playing sports and stuff.
More than anything, I've come to really love it here. I've met some great people, had some memorable nights, learned a ton (in and out of class), and just enjoyed the full uni experience. The community, both online and in person has been super helpful and kind.
Yeah, it's probably going to get harder from here, but right now I'm just feeling grateful. UW doesn’t feel so scary now, and I honestly can't imagine being anywhere else.
To all incoming first years, Uni is what u put into it. Go and enjoy life.
