First NASCAR race...
This may be a long story, so seat back and enjoy it.
Welp going back home after making my childhood dream of going to a NASCAR race come true today. I gotta say I cried when cars left pit road, I couldn't hold it any longer.
I became a NASCAR fan when I was 5 years old, now 23, I remember that I got to know NASCAR thanks to a childhood friend who had an Xbox with NASCAR 06 total team control, he always wanted to play FIFA but every time I went to his house I was like "So... We gon play NASCAR? :)" and he was like "ok, but first let's play some FIFA" and I was like ok cool let's do it.
Then I got a PS2 and everytime my dad and I went to a game shop I was always looking for NASCAR games, 06, 07, 08, 09, didn't matter to me as long as it said NASCAR on the title. Coming from a country where NASCAR was barely even known I always felt like the weird kid that had cars going around in circles as his favorite sport and thought that it would take me many many years to be able to attend a race in person. I thought that I had to wait til I was at least 30 or even older to be able to attend a race, I felt like it was impossible to do it anytime soon. But then life took a whole 180° turn last year when an unexpected opportunity showed up and I was able to come to the US.
Fast forward 6 months and I had tickets bought to go to Homestead, plane tickets, track pass and everything planned. Then I had to cancel all of that due to personal reasons and almost had to leave the country, I thought welp this is it, maybe I will never be able to make it to a race, thank God I was wrong.
1 month later bought tickets for Texas Motor Speedway and today it finally happened, woke up at 6 am, my dad and I drove 4 and half hours all the way from Houston to Fort Worth to be able to watch the race.
The wait was very worthwhile, it was the best day of my life, was able to get my hat signed by both Kyle Larson and William Byron and experienced the "cars going around in circles" for the first (and hopefully not last) time in my life and I couldn't have enjoyed it anymore. When the cars took the green I felt the ground and my whole body shake, then went to the first row and OMG the adrenaline rush I felt when those cars took the green and then came back around is just something else. When I left the track I couldn't keep it together again and just bursted out crying as I felt so happy.
On a side note, man those Gen 7 sound spectacular I thought that they would disappoint me cause they don't sound very good on TV, but HOLY MOLLY THOSE CAR SOUND AMAZING.
Anyways, if anyone reads all of this I appreciate you for taking your time to read all of this, I just needed to share my experience and how I felt.
Good night!
