Looking for 1-hit-wonders that were North American FM radio rock hits between '77-'83
Somewhat specific request I guess, but after cutting my teeth on AM radio as a middle schooler, I expanded my listening into FM radio starting around 76-77 while in high school (in Canada). The station I used to listen to had their weekly Top 20 albums and I'd devotedly track each week. I wish I still had those lists as I could find additional one-off bands that were played around that time. I'm specifically thinking of songs that would have hit FM radio (possibly bridging over to AM pop radio as well) in the 77-83 time period that were really the only "hit" for the bands.
Some Examples (knowing full well that 1. these bands may have had long careers with really good albums - e.g. City Boy, but really only one "radio-friendly" hit in North America; 2. it's possible that your geo may have played other songs from these bands, but where I was these were the main ones...):
- "The Day The Earth caught Fire" - City Boy
- "Sausalito Summer Nights" - Diesel
- "Hey St Peter" - Flash And The Pan
- "Don't Ever Wanna Lose Ya" - New England
- "Oh Well" - The Rockets
- "Driver's Seat" - Sniff 'n The Tears
etc.
Any other examples? Hoping to maybe dredge up an oldie that'll put a smile on my face...
Thanks!
