Help me get over limerance please?

✅ Open to Everyone

I'll start off by saying the connection I had with the man is over. It's been a month since and unfortunately, I really felt attracted to him and am just looking for ways to get over my limerance. I would give a TLDR; but I don't know how to summarize my word vomit well so appreciate the ride if you end up reading all of this.

We never met in person actually, and I matched with him because I spontaneously swiped on Travel mode so there's a long distance aspect to this. Personally, I really enjoyed initially texting with him and I felt there was chemistry which was rare for me. Also need to acknowledge I didn't really interact with much men even though I'm over 25 so my inexperience is showing. With the long distance, but more importantly - I was still actually a virgin when we first matched, texts slowed down. Instead of him reaching out, I would reach out but he always replied promptly within the day or two. I didn't know it at the time that he was distancing because I was a virgin until there was an opportunity that I could've met him in person but he turned it down saying he'd only use me for sex... but he would continue to chat with me, even as far as heeding to my request to give me a list of recommendations to check out while I was visiting since I came up with a friend.

Then I became not a virgin LOL girl had fun in the city (safely ofc) and I reached out because at that point, he was just ignoring my messages. We picked it up again with the texting, it was fun and sexy until I became needy. Whenever I become anxious and expressed it, his response was more of a neutral response. "Don't worry, you don't make me feel XYZ" but never an affirmative, so I was seeking for that. I wanted him to express how he felt towards me so I asked him that. Silence. We talked about attachment styles and I think both of us are in denial saying we're secure when really I'm anxious with him and he's avoidant with me.

At this point, I thought he blocked me so every time I had the urge to reach out, I just did because he blocked me so he wouldn't receive the call/message right? He in fact did not block me and just didn't engage with it per his words. He's not much of a phone caller but I no longer wanted to exchange this over text so I requested a phone call. No reply after 3 days. Then I just gave up and sent a message saying I should've taken whatever he did as a sign that he's just not as into me and as closure to which we just mutually ended things.

This connection I had with him lasted for over a year with me reaching out on and off throughout last. We never met in person, never talked over the phone, and the last important factor - there is an age gap. He's in his 40's so obviously the specs don't look great but I can't help but feel attracted to him. I know my crush on him is largely based on mystery and my limerence isn't helping either with becoming this attached to the guy. Because of the specs, I'd like to think I wasn't expecting a boyfriend-girlfriend kind of relationship. It was largely physical-driven but the thing I kept asking for was a bit of an emotional connection because just as-is, it felt too lustful for my liking if that makes sense? It's clear I probably shouldn't be in cahoots with the guy and that's why I preface I no longer am, but I just want to understand where he was coming from.

Did he just liked the attention from a young and attractive girl to keep on replying for over a year? He turned me down for sex because he said he would've felt guilty, was there any aspect that he cared about me? The frustrating part is I know how illogical everything about this is. I should just move on and talk to guys closer to my age. I should distract myself. It just sucks because I really did like this connection and I really did wanted to sleep with him and if I had just treated it as just that, maybe I would've enjoy it. I just know, knowing myself, I would've been more hurt because I really did wanted that emotional connection. I told him to go talk to a girl closer to him because I wouldn't be talking to some guy across the country if I didn't want sex because it's him. Maybe I just wanted him to say that he's been wanting me too as much as I wanted him. Yeah, help me snap out of this but nicely if you can.
