Is weight gate still a thing?

I wasn’t around for this unsettling even but I’ve read about it a bit. I understand that It was an issue with the coding making it nigh impossible to get certain combos of perks. I know bungie said they fixed it but i it’s hard to trust them at this point. The reason I’m asking is my friend and I have been farming vespers host this week for the special gl. We both want attrition orbs with unrelenting or demo. According to the raid banner mats we’ve gone through we’ve ran the first encounter 500 times, give or take 50 due to wiping or forgetting to place flag. Even with that many runs neither of us have the role, heck I only have 18 with attrition orbs. I’ve never once had this bad of luck.
