What would you use in place of money?

So we assume full SHTF scenario, no real chance of the dollar meaning anything on an institutional level again. What do you think would be the best universal currency?

I’m thinking something that doesn’t spoil, something that would be useful but not so useful that you’d want to keep it or use it every time you got your hands on one.
