Motercyle Puchace Private

I fucked up. Last week I bought a motercycle from facebook and took it home with no plates. They signed the registration but I haven't registered the bike because he informed me the UVIP was in the mail. There was no bill of sale. Today when I went to pick up the UVIP I learn there is a lien on the bike from the first owner. The guy I bought the bike from was the third owner, so no one has had issues insuring the bike. I'll need to run the VIN number in the morning to find out more about the lien. I contacted him with my disapproval for his dishonesty and requested to refund. He doesn't sound enthusiastic about me returning it, do I have any legal options?
