Lefties, what’s your solution to the tariffs after knowing this?

I’m having trouble finding any logical argument against this. I genuinely welcome the any points, and will admit there’s a better way or I’m wrong if there’s logic and evidence. I would have this debate with my side, but many aren’t even aware of this, just following with blind faith.

Tariffs, not even a fan of them nor our leader too much right now. But we have no real ability to support ourselves if the global supply chain breaks down — and tariffs are pretty much the only tool we’ve got to start forcing manufacturing back into the U.S.

Anyone who thinks we’re going to nicely ask companies to return to America is out of touch. These corporations aren’t going to walk away from slave labor and government subsidies overseas just because we ask. Even if we cut our minimum wage in half, they’d still be better off overseas. We can’t compete with that — not without pressure. And tariffs are honestly the most peaceful way to apply it.

Then there’s Taiwan. That one island produces about 80% of the world’s semiconductors — chips that power phones, cars, computers, defense tech, and AI. If China invades Taiwan, global tech production would collapse. And people still say, “China won’t actually do it.” Really? Xi Jinping has literally said he wants Taiwan back before the next generation takes over. They’re already running military drills around the island and sending jets into its airspace. It’s not some distant hypothetical — it could happen any day.

If that happens, the U.S. and its allies would have to sanction China immediately. That would cut off our access to critical imports — batteries, medicine, rare metals, electronics — almost overnight. And then what? Our economy isn’t what gives us global dominance anymore — it’s our military. But without semiconductors and the raw materials to build tech and weapons, we’re crippled. A $30 trillion debt, no production capability, no trust from allies — that’s not a superpower. That’s a liability.

Do you really think Canada or Mexico are going to save us? No one bets on a collapsing empire.

And it’s not just China. We’re juggling potential disasters with Ukraine, Iran, Israel, and the Houthis. Any move we make — too aggressive or too weak — could cause things to spiral. Trump tried to take the path with the least loss of life, and Putin still bombed a city the next day. There’s no outcome without risk now. So the question is: what actually prevents the U.S. from bleeding out?

I only bring this up because it feels like the left just wants to keep funneling money overseas — which, let’s be honest, only enables more killing in the long run. Say what you want about Trump, but at least he tried to sit down and negotiate. Yeah, maybe he got burned a few times, but he tried. That’s more than most leaders even attempt.

And no — your answer can’t be “Trump just wants to make money off the market.” That doesn’t add up. If he actually succeeds in bringing manufacturing and production back to the U.S., he’d make way more money in the long run. Think about it — land values would skyrocket, his brand power would explode, private investments in infrastructure and defense would boom, and he’d go down in history as the guy who rebuilt American industry. That’s legacy-level power. That’s real wealth. Way more than some short-term gains in the stock market.

I constantly hear that tariffs are going to cause this or that with emotionally driven opinion in hatred of Trump. I am by no means denying that there may be some tough times, but it’s sure as hell a lesser consequence then not. And it seeks like all the policies coming from the left almost always seem to end in harm, chaos, or death in favor of everyone but its own citizens. Whether it’s child mutilation, late-term abortion, or turning a blind eye while migrants with violent histories commit rape and murder, it just keeps stacking up. I’m not trying to be dramatic — it’s just what we’re seeing. The right might come off harsher or more aggressive at first glance, but more often than not, their policies actually result in less long-term destruction. That’s why I’m even bringing this up — because we need real solutions, not feel-good ideas that lead to fallout.

So again, I’m asking seriously: If you’re on the left, what’s your actual plan that works faster than tariffs? What’s your strategy to stop our dependence on China and other hostile countries before we’re dealing with total collapse?

We don’t have time for emotional appeals or wishful thinking anymore. If not tariffs — then what
