Paid Off Written-Off Credit Cards (Scotiabank, PC Financial) and Collection (Cash Money) – R9 Still Showing, Need Help Before August
Hi everyone, I’m working on rebuilding my credit and need some advice.
My Equifax score is 538 and TransUnion is 555. It was 462 before I started paying off my debt. I fully paid off: • A Scotiabank Visa and PC Financial Mastercard (both were written off) • A Cash Money loan (was in collections, now paid in full)
Some accounts now show $0 balance, but they still have the R9 (bad debt) status. Others still show a balance even though I paid. I’ve called the lenders, and they said updates were sent to the credit bureaus, but nothing has changed yet.
I need to buy a van for work by August 2025, and I’m hoping to reach at least fair credit to get a decent loan.
Has anyone dealt with this before? • How long did it take to update your report? • Did you send goodwill letters or file disputes? • Can R9 be changed to something better after payment?
Any help or advice would really mean a lot. Thanks in advance!
