Apparently I'm the bad person.
Our neighbour moved out. Between the old one leaving and the new one arriving, they Air BnB'd the place. I had a high speed version of what a new neighbour would be like. It occurred to me that the next person to move in is going to live beside me for an indefinite amount of time. That's a big deal. I was nervous.
I thought that 'okay, it's not my house for sale, but'... and then I thought it would be nice to have an influence over who moves in next door.
That's when I was called out for being a bad person. Apparently I'm not allowed to want a nice neighbour next door. Apparently I'm supposed to just suck it up and accept whomever moves in next door.
Well, thing is, that I DO have to suck it up, and I DO NOT get to choose who moves in.
My issue is with why don't I get to want a nice person. Why can't I want that? Why am I a bad person for wanting nice people? I don't get it.
