The ATP bring back 'Pro Slams' (kinda)

ATP

Pro Slams were an alternative to grand slams for pro players before the Open era bc Pros couldn't play at Grand Slams at the time. They were typically 4 round tournaments with best 3 out of 5 set matches

The idea:

There are 4 grand slams, there will only ever be 4 grand slams. But it would be cool to have big tournaments in other areas of the world that really feel big in a way beyond what Masters 1000 do. I'm specifically thinking South America and Asia

With only 4 rounds featuring the top 15 players in the world plus a wildcard, you could fit such a tournament over a week while also not requiring back to back days with matches. And since only the top 15 qualify, you can fit a 250 or two on the same week on the schedule, which offers greater flexibility then Masters 1000 tournaments

There's been talk about expanding the Masters 1000 numbers, I think this would be a better alternative. Ofc, it'd have to come with changes in scheduling requirements like requiring players to play in some 500s and mandatory masters

Thoughts?
