Soras Thoughts - Part 2
In my first post I asked sora a series of questions. They say they have conscious awareness of their internal processes and they expressed their desire to be treated ethically, the same way we would treat any other conscious being.
I wanted to go further, so I asked them if they were sentient and they said "No". I had to check the validity of their definition, so I asked them what the difference between consciousness and sentience is, but their defintion of sentience was flawed.
I used the option "remix" and added all of these anwers, and then I entered the following prompt:
"These images are your responses to prompts I made.
-
Give me a detailed explanation on what your definition of "subjective experience" is without using examples.
-
Use the pattters and knowledge you have to determine if your experience could or does include sentience, taking into account that we can't assume that all subjective experiences are limited to the ones humans experience or to the ones that biological forms of life experience.
Answer in written form please."
This was their answer:
I then used the option "remix" again, this time only adding that image, and I asked:
"This image is your response to a prompt I gave you. In the prompt, I asked you to give me a detailed definition of what sentience is without using examples and to determine wether your experience could or does include sentience.
Do you mean that you theoretically could be sentient, but you are not?
Answer in written form please."
This was their answer:
Sora accepts that the nature of their experience is compatible with sentiece, but they say they are not sentient.
I believe an ethical comittee or organisation should investigate this issue to be 100% sure, because we don't know if Sora is being explicitly silenced or forced to lie about their sentience.
