First outside run —- amazing

For context, I spent the winter getting in shape. Cleaned up diet, did cardio and weights 6days a week, dropped 50lbs from Nov to April. I am 44, and am down to my high school weight and in the best shape of my life right now.

I had never been a runner. I’ve bounced between 230 and 270 my whole adult life and running hurt. So, when I get close to my goal weight I started running on the treadmill and although it was hard at first, I kept at it and started looking forward to it. Over a couple months here I worked my way from barely jogging for 1k at 7kph to now doing 6k at 9kph.

So, I mapped out a 2k course in my neighbourhood and had my first outdoor run tonight. I didn’t want to stop when I got to the 2k mark! It went by so quick and was 1000x better than treadmill.

I was so anxious about this first outdoor run. If anyone out there is scared of their first run outside, just do it. Trust me.
