Are Chemical Plants Good Places to Work?

Hi. I recently graduated high school and have been trying different jobs to start my career. There's an ethanol plant where I like and they're adding another chemical plant onto their facility to use their products. The plant pays well and offers good benefits, but I don't know if its the kinda thing I'm cut out for. Does anyone have any info on places like these? What is the work like? How are the coworkers? How are the conditions? The one is my town is pretty old (used to be a whiskey distillery before prohibition) and Ive heard that its dangerous.
