Video ads on websites and music apps causing severe lag and second monitor looses hdmi connection

Sometimes when I’m on Spotify, another music app, or a website and a video ad plays my second monitor looses connection and causes very bad lag to my pc. After the ad is over everything seems to go back to normal. I see this problem mainly on Spotify but it has happened on websites as well. If I then alt f4 out of the website it also goes back to normal. Additionally, if I minimize the tab it doesn’t happen even when an ad plays. I’m completely lost here.
