Taking a semester off and then studying abroad

Hey all, for context I was supposed to study abroad in the fall 2025 semester, but due to personal reasons I now need to take a semester off from UIC completely. I was just wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to take a semester off and then study abroad in spring 2026? I emailed both my advisor and study abroad and haven’t heard anything yet, but was curious if anyone has done this. Also if anyone has taken a semester off, was the process hard? Did you just not register for classes or were there other steps you needed to take? Thanks in advance!
