Please help me interpret this crazy dream I had after leaving my partner.

TW: mention of sexual assault/rape

Hello, I am hoping to gain some insight to my dream last night that has me so ????

I left my partner yesterday after years of mistrust and them cheating on me. I knew I was going to have a wild dream, and most likely a nightmare but this really has me shook.

So it starts with me just walking downtown in a random city and all of a sudden, I make direct eye contact with the man who assaulted me in my past (not my ex). He walks past me and then I keep walking but I remember thinking to myself, holy fuck was that “…” and getting scared so I started walking faster and then he passed me again and again until he was the only person. I started screaming my exs name and for him to help me. Then I was trapped in a small closet with my assaulter and he’s assaulting me all while i’m still screaming my exs name and for help? and that’s when I woke up, shaking and hyperventilating.

I’m so sorry if posts about dreams featuring this stuff isn’t really discussed, I am just genuinely concerned and freaked out after that dream!!
