Mimic not healing during Elden Beast second phase?

I have my mimic equipped with the Raw Meat Dumpling and Warming Stones, but it only uses those items in phase one, and doesn't seem to heal at all in phase 2.

I only have 3 meat dumplings, so unless they have their own inventory they grab from if maybe that changed in the latest patch, maybe they use all the items in phase 1 and has nothing phase? it's annoying to have to go into elden beast with a mimic at 10% hp and not healing themselves at all.
