LP II refusing to charge, just blinks the lightning bolt

I think the connector is a bit worn out. But I would hope that I'd be able to get the lightning bolt to remain once it shows up. But even if I get the cable at the right angle so the lightning bolt shows on the battery, it only blinks on and off every once while. His do something I can do to fix this?
