Location: New York. Abusive ex is lying about credit card fraud
Location: New York.
My abusive ex was the breadwinner in our relationship and gave me his credit card to use. I’ve not used it in over six months now because our relationship was falling apart and he’s abusive and I had to make plans to leave.
Two weeks ago he threatened to murder suicide us both, and now he’s threatening to call the police on me for credit card fraud if I don’t come back (I spent about $10k in 6 months - all of which he gave me permission to do, and why didn’t he report it six months ago if it was truly fraud)?
He gave me the money with the expectation that I wouldn’t need to repay it, but I’m fine with repaying it (I’m homeless) if he just would stop threatening me over it, but he won’t, and basically he’s going to get me charged with a felony which would ruin my life (I’m a tier one school student who has never been in trouble with the law and my parents and family are dead so I have no help whatsoever).
I don’t know what to do. He literally gave me the money but now that I’ve left and not even used the card in at least seven months now (typically if I had credit card fraud, I’d report it right away and not wait 7 months but I’m not an abuser so who knows), he’s going to contact his credit card company and the police to get me into trouble. I swear to God I didn’t commit fraud - he gave me his card to use.
I don’t know what to do. I’m homeless because I left him, I can’t even eat when I’m around him because he makes me so anxious, he threatens murder suicide constantly, and I’ve been to the police at least three times to make incident reports because he wants to get a gun so I’ve reported his abuse (but didn’t get him arrested because I was afraid that he’d do something crazy or his parents would. They’re multimillionaires and just as unstable as him)…
I don’t know what to do anymore.
I’m going to catch a felony charge all because I left my fucking abuser. Any advice?
