All of the people you wanted to win a council seat probably didn't win, and that's okay...

...mine didn't either. Nobody's perfect, but people were very qualified this time around.

  • If you voted for Natomi Blair, it's okay. Stephen Chang is a relatively young person with a lot of experience already. He's been working for Leander for a couple years now and is very well educated. He has the ability to do good by us, so give him a chance to live up his own expectations.
  • If you voted for Annette Sponseller, it's okay. David McDonald is not only an experienced incumbent, but one who's been endorsed by our mayor, who also donated to his campaign. I think we should all believe Mayor DeLisle wants to do right by us, and she wouldn't be endorsing somebody who's proven to be a thorn in her side. This is a strong indication that they may have disagreements, but are willing and able to work together. That's a good thing.
  • If you voted for Donnie Mahan, it's okay. Naudin has spent years showing how much he cares about this community. Time and time again he has shown, on video, his ability to cordially discuss issues with people that have polar opposite opinions. He's shown that he's able to hear them, has the intelligence to understand their position, and commitment to find a middle ground.

Just be happy that Mike Sanders wasn't anywhere near the ballot this time. Digging into experience, policy, interviews, financials (always ugly), and passion, these were three difficult decisions, and that's a good thing.

I look forward to seeing what they can do to help our community, and you can too. If they don't, don't be afraid to hold their feet to the fire. Just because you didn't vote for somebody it doesn't mean they don't work for you now.
