A real conversation with my mom today
Me “I like your outfit. It’s very summery”
Her “thanks. I like your skirt”
Me “thanks”
Her *looking me up and down * “have you considered any workouts for your waistline?”
Me “it’s just an unflattering skirt”
Her “I hate saying this” her making fake cry-y face “I really hate saying this, but diabetes runs in our family”
Me “I actually saw my PCP this past year and she says I’m not pre diabetic. “
Her “I didn’t say you were pre diabetic”
Me “ok. My blood work is very good. I have a PCP. When’s the last time you saw a PCP?” note: my mom doesn’t have a doctor or health insurance and refuses to get it because it’s too expensive. It honestly worries me because she’s now in her 50s, if I bring up my worries, she ignores me
Her “ok let’s not make this a argument. Let’s not get aggressive”
Me “ok”
Her *taking to my dog that’s sitting between us * “dogs name, It really hurt me to say that, you dogs name, know I’m a good person. My mom would say things like this out of spite. But I care”
Seriously what madness do I exist in
