I Quit Nike after one week
So yeah… I’m out. I quit Nike factory store aka (outlet or clearance store) after just one week. Honestly, I’m going to miss my coworkers—they were super chill, and I actually vibed with a lot of them. But everyone there is way overworked and severely underpaid. You’re basically a glorified janitor, but without janitor pay (seriously, janitors probably make more).
You’re expected to clean the restrooms, sweep the entire store, mop, clean the break room, pick up after disgusting customers—and somehow still smile and push account sign-ups like your life depends on it. All for minimum wage.
A lot of people stay for the discount, but that’s a trap too. if you “abuse” it (aka buy more than 5–6 pairs), they’ll straight-up ban your account. Some employees are even holding out for 5 years just to get a lifetime discount, which… I don’t know how they do it. Factory outlet and clearance stores are a whole different beast. Maybe the retail locations are better, but these places will burn you out quick.
Oh, and don’t even try using the restroom—it’s always full because employees are hiding in there from how brutal the job is. Management? Trash. They micromanage and shove tasks down your throat. You even have to carry around shopping bags to hand out, which are touched by like 500 different people every day. It’s gross.
Anyway, that was my one-week experience at Nike. Done and dusted.
