Is it weird that I still value virginity and emotional connection while everyone around me seems into hookup culture?

I’m an 18-year-old guy who hasn't been in relationships until now. Not because I think I'm unattractive, but I feel a bit shy at first, and that definitely plays a part. But the core of it is that I value genuine emotional bonds.

When girls show interest in me, but I find out they’re not virgins— even if it’s just with one partner—it honestly messes with my head. I know body count doesn’t define someone’s worth, and that character is what really matters, but I can’t shake the feeling and also I haven't met such a understanding girl. It just messes with me.

I’m wondering if I should stop caring and just dive into hookup culture like everyone around me seems to be doing, but I’m not sure I can or even want to. Am I being unreasonable or outdated for wanting this kind of connection? Is it still possible to hold onto my values in today’s dating scene?

I like to think of myself as a "green flag" in relationships, prioritizing communication, respect, and emotional intimacy. So, am I being too rigid in my beliefs?
