Clueless Management? Just started.

I was hired at PetSmart back at the beginning of April. My management team seems to have no idea what’s going on at any given moment.

When they called me to set up an interview, I was asked multiple times if anyone had reached out to me. I said no, we scheduled the interview, and then I was hired.

I am in the dog trainer training program. I have previous experience, but understand I need to learn the “PetSmart ways”. I was asking my manager multiple times if she knew the dates or where I’d be going to complete my training. No one could tell me anything until the bout before I left. I had come in multiple times on my days off trying to get any sort of information.

When I arrived at the area trainer, I was sent back because I didn’t have any of the proper materials. No one had given me the workbook or curriculum. I was sent with a shirt and no name tag. The stores called each other and my store claimed they “didn’t know anything about this”.

I returned to the hotel as directed and waited for someone to contact me in regards to next steps. No one called me, so I contacted my manager who told me they’d left multiple messages last night. I received no calls or messages on my end.

When I arrived back at my home store, it was again like begging for anyone to give me my needed materials.

Is this the norm? I have no ideas the days I work, no one has asked for my schedule. I’m waiting to be sent back to the area trainer, but I’m having a lot of doubts about working here.
