Spirituality vs. Religion - how do you explain it?
How do you explain this to someone who can't seem to grasp the idea that religion is man-made doctrine versus spirituality being a personal experience/way of being or believing? There is a person in my life who is really struggling right now, feeling lost and as if there is no purpose. I believe spirituality could be beneficial, but they can't move past the idealogy of Christianity (which they do not believe in). It's as if they can't open their mind to the massive possibilities outside of what the "holy" texts say/accept that there could be more. I try explaining it how it makes sense in my mind and it just doesn't come across well, I guess. How would you or would you keep trying? I know spirituality is a personal path, but if I think it could help.
