⭐️Is the Bible distorted???

The meaning and reasons for the claim of distortion among Muslim or Atheist brothers :

What is distortion? Distortion, as defined by Muslim scholars, is the distortion of speech, meaning its interpretation in a way other than its true meaning without evidence and giving it a meaning that contradicts its true meaning. The root of distortion in language means changing the meaning (61). Distortion, as a term, has many meanings, including: Distortion in order: meaning moving the verse from one place to another. Distortion of meaning and changing it to something that contradicts the apparent meaning of its wording, and this includes interpretation by opinion. Anyone who interprets speech in a way other than its true meaning and interprets it in a meaning other than its true meaning is a distortion. Distortion of the wording: which includes addition or subtraction, change and substitution.

First: Distortion by addition: meaning that some of the book is not from the original book.

1- Adding one or more letters to the verse. 2- Adding one or more words to the verse. 3- Adding a part of the book. 4- Increase in the total number of books.

Second: Distortion due to deficiency: meaning that some of the book does not include everything that the prophets wrote with the spirit, such that some of it was lost either intentionally or through forgetfulness, and this part may be a letter, a word, a verse, or a part of the book.

1- The verse is missing one or more letters. 2- The verse is missing one or more words. 3- Deficiency in one part. 4- The shortage in the book collection.

Any distortion in replacing one word with another, distortion in replacing one letter with another, distortion in replacing one vowel with another. This is the meaning of distortion and its types as defined and explained by Muslim scholars.

The question is: Does this meaning of distortion apply to the books of the Bible? And if some people imagine and claim that this happened, can they answer the following questions?

(1) When was the Bible distorted? And in what era did the distortion occur?

(2) Was the distortion done before or after the sixth century AD?

(3) Who distorted the Bible?

(4) Where was the Bible written? And in which country in the world?

(5) Why was the Bible distorted? What was the purpose of that?

(6) Can anyone provide historical evidence for this claim?

(7) Where is the uncorrupted version of the Bible? What are the texts that have been corrupted? How can you distinguish between what has been corrupted and what has not?

(8) How did the distortion occur? Was it possible for anyone to collect all the copies of the Old Testament that were present with the Jews and Christians, and all the books of the New Testament that were spread across dozens of countries, hundreds of cities, and thousands of villages, whether those that were with individuals or those that were in churches, then distort them and return them to those from whom they were taken?

No Christian, whether orthodox or heretical, has ever said that the Bible has been distorted throughout the history of the Bible and Christianity. Despite the emergence of different Christian sects, whether in the early centuries or in modern times, and the emergence of heresies and heresies throughout the history of Christianity, and their differences and variations in thought and belief about the person and nature of the Lord Jesus Christ, not a single sect or group of groups has said that the Bible has been distorted.

Both the churchmen and the heretics were scholars of the Bible, they studied every word of it and memorized it by heart and each of them had his own copy of the Bible. Regional and ecumenical councils were held and heated discussions took place about each of them’s understanding of the verses of the same one Bible. They differed about the interpretation of some of its verses and each of them’s understanding of them, and some of them made his verses serve his own ideas, but they all believed in one inspiration of one holy book that is infallible and free from error and fault. No one among the Jews said that the Bible was distorted, and hundreds of Jewish priests had joined Christianity in the first years of the Gospel. The Bible says, “And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great number of the priests were obedient to the faith” (Acts 6:7). There were also heated discussions between the Jews and Christians about the prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament, because of which thousands of them believed and became Christians (Acts 17:2-4).

One of the most famous discussions in the second century was the dialogue between Justin Martyr and Trypho the Jew. Both relied on verses from the same holy book, the Old Testament.

Neither accused the other of distorting the Holy Book, but they differed in interpretation and application. Despite the emergence of thousands of translations of the Holy Bible, they were all translated from the original text, Hebrew and Aramaic, in which the Old Testament was written, and Greek, in which the New Testament was written. We have manuscripts of it dating back to the days of the Lord Jesus Christ and the days of his pure apostles.
