Follow the money...?

Instead of looking for proof of the technology, aren't there other ways to infer that something is going on? The first thing that comes to mind is "follow the money". What are people who are supposedly in the know doing with their investments? Are they heavily weighted into one or more tech companies? Are they heavily shifting their assets into gold or cash? How can that be determined? Like Wayne Gretzky said: "Skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been". I'm not concerned about the religious or societal implications. My concern is the financial markets.
