Burnout mental health nurse - help!
Hi guys, I’m glad I found this thread I’ve been finding it helpful reading some of the posts.
I need a bit of a rant and maybe some encouragement/reassurance that I’m not the only one.
I’m a band 7 MH nurse currently working within a children’s mental health team and boy, I am burnout. For the last few months, but particularly most recently, I have spent most weeks being yelled at by parents or kids for things that are out of my control, being told I don’t do anything to help and blaming me for a lot of systemic difficulties.
I work in the community so my diary is my own, I’ve gone down to four days to help manage more of a work/life balance as I feel my job has became my identity.
Two questions, how do you know you are burnout and what helps? And two, how do you stop making being a nurse your identity?
TIA
