I’m (F26) not sure if the assistant manager (M23) has had a crush on me but 2 other colleagues are. I’ve gotta work closely with him. Do i need to do anything with this situation?
TD;LR - My (F26) assistant manager (M23) teases me a lot, like more than other co-workers. He also asks me to work closely with him a lot. But he’s never texted me afterwork so i’m not sure if he’s had a crush on me. But 2 of my colleagues do think he likes me. Should i be concerned with his behaviour?
I’ve been starting a new job as a management trainee at a retail store. There’s one manager and 2 assistant managers. My manager (M30) is always busy and trains me sometimes, another assistant manager (F23) is very new, so this guy (M23) (let call him B) has to teach me lots of stuff about work.
From what i’ve known, my manager doesn’t assign B to train me. He only said that he’s busy most of the time but he’d try to allocate time to train me by himself. However, B is very kind and initiates to teach me most stuff. Most of the time it’s 1-1 training. He’s the one i work closely with for the most, even more than my manager. He’s never complimented me in a romantic way nor texted me after work.
But there’s one behaviour that has got 2 colleagues of mine think that he’s had a crush on me. It’s that he teases me a lot, like most of the time, although i’m the newest staff here and that he should get used to other staff more than me. He sometimes teases others, but not as frequent as he’s done to me. He playfully mimics the way i speak. He always has a joke for every single thing i do, even when i’m just walking past him during the shift.
I’ve observed that when others ask him a question about work, he can reply in a serious tone. But when i do, he always teases me first, like ‘nooo i can’t tell you it’s a super secret’ before answering me. When he’s walking past me, he always smiles and giggles (not a bully-ish way tho).
Tbh i’m curious about his behaviour too. But 1) he’s never openly flirted with me in a romantic way 2) he’s never texted me afterwork 3) every single time he asks me to work closely with him, there’s a sensible reason to do so (for example, filling in the inventory documents).
Is his behaviour that creepy? Do i have to report to my manager? Tbh i’m not uncomfortable with him or anything but if that’s the way a guy is flirting with a girl, i’d be put off. (Sorry i’m blind in reading people’s signs lol)
