Already planning on getting MSW, should I do it in Ireland to better chances of being employed there for Critical Skills Employment Permit as a social worker?
Hi folks,
I've been researching doing a MSW for sometime now. Before anyone says so, I am well aware this profession is poorly paid, with long hours and difficult work everywhere. I currently work in an adjacent profession assisting survivors of human trafficking and have been warned by social worker colleagues.
I am, at the same time, seeking to move to Ireland for multiple reasons that are not really relevant to list for this question. At any rate, I see that social work is on the Critical Occupations list. I know there is a way to transfer degrees/qualifications from the US through CORU, but seems to me if I'm already planning on doing it and the cost is about the same for non-EU/EEA to do it in Ireland, it's a safer and easier bet to do it in Ireland at one of the approved programs and then do the 2-year job seeker visa to find a job with the support of the program connections behind me.
Has anyone done this? Is this a bad idea? Thanks for any help.
