Help! Supplements and cycle changes?
Hi all. I had an 8W MMC (discovered at 12W) in November, followed by a CP in January. I started taking myo-inositol and NAC in December for "fertility support", and in January added baby aspirin, Ubiquinol, Alpha-Lipoic Acid, and Vitamin D, and went mostly gluten and sugar free. I also had a HSG in February with my RE. Since the CP, I have had ovulation spotting, painful cramping basically all through the luteal phase, and heavier periods with less clotting (basically like a bloody nose, just a dripping faucet). I also am pretty sure my ovulation has happened around CD10 the last two cycles (used to be CD15 like clockwork prior to January), and my cycle has shortened by about 2 days. I'm very concerned about the ovulation spotting, mid cycle cramping, early ovulation and heavy bleeding during the menstrual phase. I haven't experienced any of these symptoms prior to my first loss. At first I thought it was maybe getting worse due to the CP, then possibly worsened by the HSG, but now that it doesn't seem to be improving, I'm wondering taking the supplements has messed with my hormones in a negative way? I have not been diagnosed with PCOS, though (possible TW) I do have a higher than normal AMH and AFC for my age... I realize there isn't a lot of research into what MI, NAC and ALA do for women without PCOS, and I know they affect hormones in women with PCOS so I just wonder if maybe they are having a negative affect on me? I asked my RE and she said that everything I am taking is good and should help us, but I just am not sure if that is the case. I stopped taking the inositol in April, and am thinking of stopping the NAC, ALA, and baby aspirin. This is really stressing me out. Shouldn't my cycles be getting back to normal 4 months post CP, rather than getting more and more unusual? I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience of their cycles getting weird while taking supplements? Did you regulate after stopping them, and how long did that take? Or is this maybe my body is just taking longer than I would expect to get back to normal post-loss?
