Is it too far?
Let's say that you're the stay at home parent, and you're always up and taking care of the kiddo-- well your spouse who works, has the freedom to be able to call off work and sleep in on occassion; you're a little jealous of your spouse because you don't ever really get that break except once on the weekends. You mention to your spouse "Well, must be nice!" and don't really think anything of it, only to have them say they felt disrespected, and tell you that you shouldn't feel jealous that they got to sleep in, but rather should feel happy that they get a break. This spouse argues that you have a much more comfortable situation where you don't have to work, you can just stay home with the baby (meanwhile you're also going to school in a difficult program)-- you mention you don't feel it's balanced, and you say, "I just feel like it's a little unfair, I don't get to do that, but I'm not trying to put you down or make you feel bad that's not my intent."
Well, your spouse has now jumped in the shower, they've closed the glass door and they look at you in the eyes and spit at you. You're so stunned you don't really know what to do, so you walk away. You take a few hours to regulate, and are hopeful that maybe apologies can be exchanged but there's only radio silence until you approach them and all they can say is, "Well, I know it was wrong and I shouldn't have done it and I feel bad so I'm sorry but there's nothing else to talk about."
I'm not sure how acceptable that is or if there's a deeper meaning to the fact that my spouse could do that. I'm not sure if I needed advice, maybe I just need to know if I'm being dramatic by being hurt over this even though I wasn't physically spit on.
