Assetto Corsa 0.2 Roadmap - Let's talk about it.
Hello everyone.
So I update the game and jump in. Still having in mind something weird : I was a bit surprised there was no talk about Free Roam during the last video.
And then, opening the game, I saw the roadmap.
The Free Roam was expected for this summer (source : Mischa video presenting the Free Roam feature), which was plan for Update N°4, after Multiplayer (which was plan for Update N°3) so basically, "two update to go" before driving in the Nordschleife in a free roam...
And then, this happened.
- No more "FALL 2025" for v1.0
- Free Roam is moving to 8 Version (so 0.8 ?) instead of 0.4
- We are moving from a 6 Part Early Access to a 8 Part Early Access
- SimGrid Integration is more important than modding and free roam (why ?)
- Modding is more important than free ROam
- I have to admit : I love the fact Modding is "before" 1.0 but i didn't understand why they push back free roaming to get Mods before...
The thing is, I'm glad they move some stuff, remove the full online, goes for Online for the next patch - which was already the case in the first iteration of the roadmap, Online was always plan to be in 0.3 - but the rest... SimGrid in 0.4 ? Is this "THAT" important ?
Why moving Free Roam to "unknown" date, which could be easily 2026 since they remove the FALL 2025 for the V1.0 and the Free Roam is the "last patch" before the 1.0
I took the game in January trusting some roadmap and thinking about "let's see this summer for Free Roam and Online" and now I just see Kunos targetting other people to add Mods community and eSport/League Community taking the game on their hands before the "first buyer" wanted to go for free roam.
I'm a bit surprised, not in a good way, and disappointed... Maybe it's just me, and I know Moding community will be happy about getting their mod in priority, but damn, until then, it's a long road to wait for us, free roaming dreaming to drive to the Eiffel...
