Laptop for programming

Hey guys so basically im thinking of buying a thinkpad T14 gen 2 to run linux on and to do some programming, like some light game dev, now i am not a professional but a friend said thinkpad laptops are good for such stuff and can also be easy to get new ram in or storage and stuff, so before i buy i need anyone here that KNOWS such things so i can get any issues out of the way
