Why do we keep older supers who are just collecting a paycheck??

Discussion

In no way is this a shot at the older supers who do a great job and run their projects very well but I have noticed a trend in the industry that is maddening. Too many companies are paying supers a ridiculous amount of money to do barely anything on projects. They show up collect a paycheck and then go home. They leave all of their responsibilities to PEs and FEs and then are the first to take the credit when something goes well. They also refuse to use any technology (BIM, Procore, virtual plans) and this hinders the rest of the project team. I apologize for the rant but it just seems ridiculous that companies want to keep these people are when they are obviously not providing any value.
