Can having political connections of opposite party affect the accused in a criminal case?

I'm a husband and OP (my wife's side) are harrassing me for a 498a case and saying they have connections with MLA and MP.. will that affect my case and my chance of getting bail?

I know there is no direct co relation but I have heard there's some kind of bonding between DM, SP, and a MLA and they listen to each other to get their works done
